So yesterday I spent the whole day retaking all the photos for the clocks currently in my Etsy shop. Yup, I retook them all. I did this on advice from an Etsy guru, Amity, who said that I need to make my photos more crisp and “clean” so that magazine could pick up on the crochet clocks and use them in features, which would generate more sales.
I’ve always been hanging my clocks against my kitchen wall, which is painted a very light green, in order to take photos for Etsy. The photos were fine and I still got a lot of Favourites and Treasury finds using them, but I needed to perfect them, hence following Amity’s advice. I have to say Amity was right! It made a huge difference and it wasn’t even hard to do. I went outside and lay the clocks down flat on white hardboard. It was an overcast day which makes for perfect photos – no harsh shadows, and no glare. Perfect for Etsy photos.
Apart from updating my current listings, I also listed two new clocks: a blue and purple granny
and a jumbo circles clock in shades of green. This bad boy is 45cm diameter!
Guess what happened then… I got an email from Ingrid Valls saying that she has featured my three granny square clocks (therefore including newly listed blue granny square clock) on her Spanish blog lastejeymaneje.blogspot.com, which according to Google Translates means “The Weave Endorsements”. How cool is that?! One day on Etsy and the blue clock is picked up by a blogger! Hooray for Amity!
Ingrid’s blog features amazing crochet finds. You should really go have a look! I’ve added a link to the blog in my blogroll for easy clicking.
I was especially blown away by John Hamilton’s crochet faces. Thanks Ingrid for introducing me to an amazing artist and of course for including my grannies!

The theme for today is “on the shelf”.
This isn’t exactly my shelf, more like my windowsill but it’s a place where I display pretty things that remind me of vacations I’ve been on.
The Savon de Marseille metal jug on the left is from a little shop in Ripley, Surrey. The glass bottles are Cherry Cola and Root Beer that we drank at a diner in New York (the cola came with the meals but I asked the waiter to rinse the bottles so that we could bring them back to the UK. Sad, I know.). The Cornish metal tins were bought at a farm stall in Cornwall, the little Kumquat liqueur bottle comes from Corfu. The other glass jar was filled with Greek honey, so that’s also from Corfu. Mini Me and Mini Hubby is from Belgium and the little boat is from a farm stall in Surrey. The Cornish Blue milk jug is my all time favourite item. I bought it the year that we bought our little house so it’s not a vacation memory, just a “I’m so blessed to be living here” reminder.
So there you have it. My shelf (window sill) of memories.

The lovely Lucy of Found on Folksy has included one of my granny square clocks in her Granny Chic blog post for today!

Each Tuesday Lucy chooses a theme and goes through all the lovely items on Folksy (which is similar to Etsy, but only for UK sellers) to create a collection of loveliness. I wasn’t even aware of this blog, so it was a very pleasant suprise! I’m in good company as well, as Emma Lamb’s mobile is listed below my clock. I’m also loving the granny pincushion and candle in a cup!
Please go have a look at all Lucy’s Folksy Finds on her blog here.

The theme for today is “what I ate”.
I’m using another photo from our vacation in Corfu: a seafood platter on the beach at sunset. Geez, that was a good vacation!
This photo will also count as this week’s Teriffic Tuesday. If you need a pick-me-up, just look back at this photo and taste the prawns, feel the sea breeze and hear the waves. Aaaahhhhh, bliss.

The theme for today is “my shoes”.
As you can see, I prefer colourful footwear. I do have a pair of black shoes, but they remain under my desk at work. I wear them about once a week. The rest of the time it’s green or red. Weekends it’s Converse and at home I’m in my Crocs.
I don’t think I can ever be accused of being afraid of colour!

…almost as much as I love crochet.
These are the buttons I’ll be using for the eight Dorothy & Theodore clocks. Don’t you just want to pop one in your mouth? Especially the pinky orangey one in the bottom of the big photo? I can totally see why babies want to eat buttons!
I’m really excited about the clocks for Dorothy & Theodore. Yesterday I figured out a new way of indicating the 12, 3, 6 and 9’s and it’s going to look soooo lovely! I have one more clock face to crochet today and then I’ll start working on my new plan. I’m considering making the New Number Design exclusively available on Dorothy & Theodore. Good plan don’t you think?!
Okay, now that I’ve shared my excitement and my beautiful buttons I have to get hooking. Not that I’m complaining – I looooooove it!
Hope you all have a sunny Sunday.

The theme for today is “close-up”.
This is a photo of my first crochet project – a granny square cushion. The green square in the centre is the very first thing I crocheted, with the help of Youtube no less! I’ll never get rid of this cushion as it’s a daily reminder of the (wonky but exciting) first step I took on my crochet journey.
