The Sheep is very clever and stylish. He won’t give you bad advice, or make you buy expensive yarn. #obeythesheep

Posted Terrific Tuesdays
inOn a Monday I can still remember the fun I had over the weekend, Wednesday is the middle of the work week, on Thursday I start getting hopeful and on a Friday I can taste the weekend. But what about a Tuesday? It’s so…. just there. Weekend memories are too far away and the upcoming weekend might as well be a year away.
What we need is a bit of colourful inspiration to get us going on a Tuesday, don’t you think? A pretty picture, beautiful scenery or colourful imagery. Yup, that’ll liven up Tuesdays and turn it into a terrific day!
From now on I will go through my photos and Pinterest likes every Tuesday and find us a pretty picture to add colour and joy to the day.

I adore the tiny pink flowers of my Alpine “Saxifraga” ground cover.
Wishing you all a Terrific Tuesday.

I love this photo I took of the Basilica of the Sacré Cœur (Sacred Heart) in Paris. It’s not so much the Basilica that I like, but the contrast between the jumbled colours and shapes of the hundreds of people in the foreground, against the solid imposing shape of the stone Basilica looming over them. For the colour palette I mirrored that contrast by combining a natural and stone shade with the three primary colours. These five shade will make a piece crochet or knitting with a beautiful balance between colourful and classic. In other words, a piece with French flair.
Wishing you all a Terrific Tuesday.

A colour palette of Vinni’s Nikkim yarn inspired by one of the most scenic coastal routes in the world – Chapman’s Peak Drive in Cape Town, South Africa.
Wishing you all a Terrific Tuesday.

Neutral colours with a bit of yellow. Sometimes that’s all you need to make a huge impact.
Wishing you all a Terrific Tuesday.

Isn’t this field of wild flowers beautiful? Do you see the tiny dew droplets twinkling like stars in the morning sun? Good ol’ Mother Nature at her best. She gets it right without even trying.
Luckily we crocheters and knitters can copy her perfect taste with beautiful yarn. I think a lacy shawl or afghan made with an open, feminine stitch pattern would do these wild flowers justice. The dew droplets can be glass beads! What would you make?
Wishing you all a Terrific Tuesday.

“More yarn.” Music to our ears, right?! Today that’s exactly the song I’m singing for you: my Etsy shop has been stocked with more beautiful shades of Vinni’s Colours Nikkim hand dyed cotton yarn.
I added more neutral colours: dark slate grey and light stone grey, and an off-white Natural. I also added two shades of yellow (I adore the bright Sunshine Yellow!), a pastel orange peachy colour and beautiful Turquoise. I also added Lavender blue that’s between the light Cloud Blue and dark Deep Blue. I did the same thing with the brown shades – I now have a medium brown called Camel that’s between Dunes and Mahogany, and a proper Barbie pink that’s between the light Ballet Pink and dark Raspberry pink.
You can click on the photo which will take you to the yarn section of my Etsy shop. Go on. Resistance is futile…. 🙂
I really do love my Nikkim hand dyed cotton yarn. It’s a crazy fantastic treat for me to walk into the garage and see all these beautiful shades, just waiting to be turned into something beautiful.
I’m currently working on playing with two versions of my chevron scarf (which I finished on 4 January but haven’t been able to photograph due to lack of sunlight) that you are going to love. I’m having a fantastic time choosing the colour combinations. I really have to restrain myself, but as it is, one of the colour combinations already consist of 10 shades!!! Do you blame me? How can I not use as many colours as possible? Look at it! You can close your eyes and point randomly at your PC screen to pick your yarn colours and they will all Just Work.
Visit my Etsy shop at your own peril. Mwa-ha-ha-ha. 😉
