Posted My crochet, Terrific Tuesdays
inOn a Monday I can still remember the fun I had over the weekend, Wednesday is the middle of the work week, on Thursday I start getting hopeful and on a Friday I can taste the weekend. But what about a Tuesday? It’s so…. just there. Weekend memories are too far away and the upcoming weekend might as well be a year away.
What we need is a bit of colourful inspiration to get us going on a Tuesday, don’t you think? A pretty picture, beautiful scenery or colourful imagery. Yup, that’ll liven up Tuesdays and turn it into a terrific day!
From now on I will go through my photos and Pinterest likes every Tuesday and find us a pretty picture to add colour and joy to the day.

John and I spent the whole weekend outside. I picked these daffodils from our garden, John got out the patio furniture, I worked on granny squares for an afghan order (I got the order because of a photo I placed on Instagram!), and we had a BBQ with friends. All of this happened under a blue sky with the sun baking down on us. It was only about 15 degrees, but the sun was out and we cherished every moment.
Wishing you all a Terrific Tuesday.

This is what I see when I walk to work from Waterloo station. Sometimes I feel a bit “bleh”, but then I see this and I’m reminded of how blessed I am.
“Sir, when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford.”
― Samuel Johnson (1709 – 1784), The Life of Samuel Johnson LL.D. Vol 3
Wishing you all a Terrific Tuesday.

This session was definitely my favourite. It was practical, funny, to the point, had visual aids and led by two very creative knowledgeable people: Carrie and Darren of Digital Bungalow.
I took notes which I will retype (make legible) in bullet form for you.
Using a camera phone is absolutely fine for blog photos. Just remember the following:
The last very useful tip was to use Google Images reverse image search to see where else on the Internet your image appears. You click on your photo within a published post and copy that link. The go to Google Images, click on the little camera to right of the long white bar. It will expand the bar and then you paste the link and hit Enter.
I tested this with a photo from my Identity Crisis blanket post, and found 9 pages with links to Pinterest and a few other blogs where that photo appears! It’s magic.
I would also like to add a little something that I find very usefull for blog photos: www.picmonkey.com. It’s a web based, free for most of the stuff, photo editing tool. Brilliant! Give it a go.

Posted My crochet, Yarnbombing
inI did it again! Another yarnbomb for Thames Ditton. I had such a great response from the squares at the station, I just had to do another.
This time I chose to beautify the bench in front of the Summer Road Recreation Ground. I did my measuring on Friday, crocheted the “leg warmers” on Saturday and sewed them onto the slats on Sunday afternoon.
The slats are 4.5cm in circumference. To make the crochet strips 4.5cm wide I chained 21, starting the DC in the 3rd chain from the hook, and did 28 rows of DC. I only used warm shades of Stylecraft Special DK, starting with yellow and ending in a maroon & bright red stripe.
Hubby was the willing accomplice (or as he thought of himself – my bodyguard) and photographer.
The autumn sun shining down on the bright yarn, really makes it sing don’t you think?
I truly hope the park users will enjoy the new and improved bench.
I’m not planning another yarnbomb in Thames Ditton until later in Autumn when the trees (actually, one specific tree) has lost all its leaves 😉 Fear not, I will strike again!
Update on the Station Road / Speer Road fence: two of the squares have been removed and one torn. It’s sad, and mind-boggling to me, that someone would take the time to cut through cable ties to remove something that’s only purpose in life is to be pretty. Let’s hope the remaining seven squares, and the park bench yarnbombing, will stay put.

Don’t you just love these images? I took the photos last night at my first crochet hookup with the girls from the Southfields Crocheters. Chris Hindle, she who teaches crochet workshops at Stitchup in Wimbledon Park, invited me to join the group after reading my blog. The group gets together once a month at Sue’s Salt & Pepper deli in Southfields. It’s lovely little place. Cozy, friendly and they have the best coffee and cake. I had a brilliant time with nicest people, surrounded by yarn, crochet hooks, coffee and cake. How could this not set the tone for a Terrific Tuesday?
Wishing you all a Terrific Tuesday!
Hooky love

Posted CAL, My crochet, Ta-daah!
inAre you taking part in The Making Spot crochet along? I’m so taking part, I’m done! Over the Bank Holiday weekend I finished the bracelet and I really, really, really like it. Thank you to The Making Spot for introducing me to tiny crochet hooks and crochet thread!
The nitty gritty of my bracelet:
Not only is The Making Spot hosting the crochet along, you can also take part in The Big Flower Swap:
If you’re not content with sharing a photo of your finished crochet online, why not send it into us here at Crochet Along HQ? We’ll send you someone else’s flower so you will receive some pretty petals in the post! Before the swap ends and we post back your blooms, we’ll photograph everyone’s flowers in a DIY Crochet Flower garden.
To join in the Big Flower Swap: crochet one or several flowers from the free pattern, and post them (along with a stamped, self-addressed envelope) to: Crochet Along, The Making Spot, Future Publishing, Bath BA1 2BW, England.
I made the big flower from the necklace pattern and posted it this morning. It would be great if one of my blog readers receive my flower, and even greater if I receive one of your flowers!
So here is my bracelet for the crochet along, and flower for The Big Flower Swap. It’s been an education working with crochet thread and a small hook, and I love it! (I loved it so much I already have a plan to crochet rosebud earrings to match my bracelet. )
The crochet along runs until the 28th of September, so you still have loads of time to crochet a bracelet and/or necklace and flower(s) for the swap.
One CAL done, another one to start: The theme for Rachell’s crochet along (working our way through Jan Eaton’s 200 Crochet Blocks book) has been decided on: Cottage Garden. I’m so happy! My stash is filled with cottage garden shades! Starting 1 September we are making block no. 1 and no. 2 from the book. All the information about this CAL is on Rachell’s blog.
So many things to get my hooks into! Love it!

My new (blog) business cards.
Roses and Daisies cushions; Belle; Hexagon scarf; Yarn; Identity Crisis Blanket
Ever heard of Moo? It’s a genius company that allows you to make business cards, mini cards, postcards, stickers, address labels and more using your own photos! You can even load the photos straight from Facebook, Etsy, Flickr or Picassa onto their (very easy to use) website.
Moo is brilliant! I’ve used them to make stickers, postcards, address labels and of course business cards for my Etsy shop and can’t recommend them highly enough.
They have a referral system, so if you do use Moo please use this link – I will get points as I referred you, but you will also receive 10% off your first order! Win-win.
Now I just need somewhere to go to so that I can hand out my cards. Wonder of the barista at Starbucks will take one?
*P.S. The photo was taken with Instagram and a filter applied. In real life, the cards are much more vibrant.

Have you ever had breakfast in a treehouse? I have, and it was magical!
Three friends and I went to Fanny’s Farm Shop near Reigate in Surrey on Saturday.
Fanny’s Farm Shop was created in 1979 by Fanny Maiklem, selling her glut of runner beans, courgettes, lettuces, dahlias and gladioli on a barrow outside her shop. Nowadays Fanny’s Farm Shop is known for its’ fabulous clotted cream teas, delicious locally made cakes, award winning marmalade, honey, eggs and even marmalade sausges.
We were booked in for the 10 am breakfast slot in the treehouse. Breakfast consisted of two of the most delicious, steaming, fresh from the oven, croissants and a roll and a hot drink. Spreads included honey, jams, peanut butter, Marmite and chocolate spread. The jams, honey and peanut butter are local Surrey produce. If you book the 12 noon, 2pm or 4pm sessions you can choose from set menus that include scones, sandwiches and cake – literally High Tea, high in a tree.
Even without food and drink, our hour in the treehouse would have been something to remember. Its cozy, quirky, rustic, private and pretty all in one. You never seem to get used to the fact that the table you’re sitting at, is built around three tree trunks!
The whole farm shop is area is filled with the same quirky, rustic, pretty things. It really is sensory overload. I couldn’t walk two steps without having to take a photo.
As a note, the milk jug in the treehouse was covered with a doilie so there’s the justification for sharing my treehouse breakfast with you.
If you are ever in the Surrey area, a visit to Fanny’s Farm Shop is a must!
